5 Ways To Improve Your Mood When You’re Feeling Sad
Ever wonder, your feelings change every second? You can feel fine at one moment, and then bam you feel you are lost or out of control. You feel uncomfortable and just want to hide yourself from the world. All the negativity you are feeling seems to eat you alive and the boiled up frustration, confusion and anger makes it worst. I don’t always process information the best way, and sometimes to run away from things, I consume or distract myself even more, which never seems to help me. I always need to step back and just slow down without feeling guilty about it.
Your job is not to sabotage yourself. Your job is to learn the best ways to deal with yourself and to hopefully always be there for yourself, because you will need it. So here are some things that have helped me relax when I start painting a dark picture in my mind that does nothing but suffocates me.
5 Ways To Improve Your Mood:
1. Taking a shower.
There is something about showers that makes you reset. The calming sound and the feeling of coming out clean and fresh helps to restart yourself. Water is energizing and makes me feel as though it is washing away any excess weight I seem to be carrying.
2. Stretching.
It can be any form of stretching, but stretching just gives you that connection to your body where you slowly loosen up and feel less rigid. Stretching can just help to release the tension you may have.
3. Lighting up a candle and looking at it.
There is something magical about looking at a candle. It’s like a magnet that directs your focus towards it and allows you to disconnect for some time. Looking at a flame seems to always help me relax, especially when you’re sitting in dim light and it is the only thing standing out. You can try out, looking at scented candles. You can get them from Jo Malone Scented Candle or Kandle Kandle
4. Having your favorite drink in a cozy area.
My favorite soothing hot drink is simply coffee. When in need of some relaxing time, I make some coffee and sit still while sipping from it bit by bit. This pairs with calming music help to boost your mood from all the negativity.
5. Listening to calming music.
I encourage you to make a playlist for moments of despair and anxiousness. Listen to it and let yourself feel and get lost in the music. Moments, where we can enjoy a piece of art and forget everything else for a while, are truly out of this world.
